Children’s Accidents
When safety fails, children get hurt. Injuries, not illnesses, are the leading cause of death among children, with 33 children dying every day from injuries, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The most common causes of child injuries are burns, drowning, falls, poisonings, and road traffic injuries, with drowning, auto accidents and burn injuries as the leading causes of death for children 4 and under. Although we cannot prevent every scratch, children should not have to suffer injuries that could have been avoided, especially serious and life-threatening injuries.
